Birding
Birding at Bacab Eco Park has always caught the attention of full time Birders. Belize in general is blessed with approximately 600 species of native and migratory birds. Bacab Eco Park is unique in the sense that we have many different types of terrain in one area, therefore we get birds that frequent Savanna, Broad Leaf Forest, Gallery Forest, Forest Marshes or "Bajo's".
Every December the Belize Audabon Society organizes a Christmas Bird Count in many different areas of the country, Bacab Eco Park being one of the areas. Birders from abroad, local guides, and Birding hobbyists take to the various areas of Bacab Eco Park from sunrise to sunset logging and counting several species of birds in our area. As is our list to date is a boastful 250 species of birds, local and migratory.
Some birds that have been seen at Bacab Eco Park almost on a daily basis are the Yucatan Jays, Aztec Parakeets, 6 of 9 different types of parrots native to Belize among many others. Some birds that are more of a treat to see are the Chestnut bellied and Boat billed Herons, Indigo Buntings, and the Red -capped Manakin. So come on down and grow your Bird List or start one today!
Many of these bird's can also be seen on any of tours. So chose one of either Kayak Creek Adventure, Jungle River Walk, Horseback Jungle Adventure, Bicycle Jungle Adventure, Ixchel Walk & Butterfly House, or just hang out at the Pool or Restaurant, we see them all the time.
